Cabbage Hill Tomatillo Paella

"A pal of ours gave us a tomatillo paella recipe quickly when we have been married and I proceeded to lose it. After no longer having made it for some years, I attempted to recreate it and that is the end result. I love the stuff!"

  • 1/2 pound bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 pounds tomatillos, husked and chopped
  • 1 (10 ounce) package deal frozen peas, or to flavor
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • three sparkling jalapeno peppers, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 pinch saffron
  • 2 cups raw white rice
  • four cups chicken broth
  • 1 bunch cilantro, chopped
